One of the main reasons why people enjoy playing ‘medieval' is because of the rich and ‘secret-filled' history of the period. Not only was the medieval times known for stuff like magic but also of knights in shining armour, dragons, and prince and princesses. And unlike other historical periods, dressing up like those in the medieval times is fun and enjoyable.
Another good thing about wearing medieval clothes is the wide array of possible outfits to choose from. The rich history and wild imagination during the time, has provided us with hundreds if not thousands of different characters to portray, so whoever you maybe, there's always a character out there that can feel connected to.
But if you're still feeling clueless about what to wear to that medieval event, we've prepared a list of top medieval clothes for men, women, or both.
Medieval Clothes for Men
Two important characteristics for medieval men are elegance and masculinity. Not only should a male look good, his features should be highlighted as well. Long sleeves with tiny tucks or jackets that come in white or black are good ideas for a top while twill breaches are a good choice for one's pants. It would also be a good idea to play with colors ranging from black to burgundy to evoke that masculine appeal.
Medieval Clothes for Women
Women are better off with gowns that are bold and beautiful. Top choices would be those that have square lines, sheer sleeves, and elaborate lines and strokes. Perfect colours would be those that are rich and bright like gold and metal while deep colours like violet and dark blue will give off that mysterious effect.
Medieval Accessories For Men and Women
Accents are also great to add to one's clothing. Small accessories like arm and wrist bracelets add a touch of elegance or charm to an otherwise, plain piece of clothing. One could also opt to use wigs for that ‘sudden make-over' effect. The use of wigs is one of the best ways to actually ‘live the character', since you actually look like one. They come in different colors, length, and shapes and are easy to use, thus giving you that original, realistic medieval look.

Some comedians have so mastered their craft that they could remain legends even if they never took the stage again. Lily Tomlin is one such comedian, but she isn't letting her iconic status keep her out of the spotlight. Instead, Tomlin is stretching herself in whole new ways, much to the delight of fans. Tomlin is still acting on television, hosting events and even taking the stage to perform standup. Not bad for a 70-year-old veteran. Seeing her live is always a treat for her numerous fans, and Lily Tomlin comedy tickets can be found at StubHub.com.

Tomlin is no stranger to television, but she is taking on a whole new kind of role in the television legal drama Damages. In the show, she plays Marilyn Tobin, the wife of a high-level scammer who ran a Ponzi scheme (a la Bernie Madoff). In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Tomlin revealed her take on Tobin. She said, "The lioness comes out. When that real fierceness comes up to protect her family and her children and her grandchildren, I think she — I think she could start to think very strategically in terms of that. That's paramount to her. I think there's a lot to Marilyn that may not meet the eye."

She flexes another kind of entertainment muscle in another project, the Leslie Jordan Off-Broadway show My Trip down the Pink Carpet. Tomlin and her longtime partner Jane Wagner will be part of the production team for the stage show. Jordan wrote a memoir with the same name, and the show is based on that book. It is his second such show, and it is set to open on April 19 at the Midtown Theater after preview shows begin on April 14. Tomlin knows what it takes to make a one-man show work, as she had a successful one-woman show in the 1980s called The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe, which was created by Wagner.

She will take the stage in a different capacity on April 19, when she is set to host the National Corporate Theatre Fund's Chairman's Awards. Honored at the awards show will be actor Nathan Lane and set designer Eugene Lee, both of whom are Tony Award winners. The cast of the play Johnny Baseball will be on hand for entertainment. According to their website, the NCTF is made up of 10 not-for-profit theaters who are "dedicated to increasing the participation of corporations and their employees in support of theatre across the country and in New York."

Tomlin herself is no stranger to awards. She has won multiple prestigious awards including Tony, Grammy, Emmy and other awards. The Detroit native first rose to public consciousness during the late 1960s and early 1970s on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In. Since then, she has made multiple television appearances on shows like Murphy Brown, The West Wing and Desperate Housewives. She has also appeared in films like Orange County, Tea with Mussolini and The Beverly Hillbillies. Her standup career is still going full-swing, and she has dates booked from east to west in the coming months.

Building Relationships With Humor

Only Fools And Horses

As a leader, when you are building social and business relationships, humor is a wonderful tool. In both situations, people want to associate with leaders who have a positive personality and a sense of humor. When you are skilled at using humor, it increases trust and likeability. It builds, and sometimes even rescues, relationships. It clearly strengthens your leadership skills. A significant fringe benefit, it sharpens your ability to use humor in your presentations because you have a better-tuned humor radar.

Here's an example where I used the humorous touch when sending a letter to a fellow professional speaker. It illustrates keeping your humor radar tuned for fun opportunities. I enjoyed hearing Mary-Ellen Drummond, a terrific speaker, give a presentation in Los Angeles. In her talk she mentioned that when she receives a great testimonial letter, she laminates it. When I returned home I wrote her a nice letter and mailed it to her. When she received the envelope and opened it, she discovered that my letter was already laminated!

Years later, I discovered that she was sharing my pre-laminated letter with an audience. When you create humor and share it, you never know how many people it will touch and to what extent it will build a relationship.

Humor is also a terrific way to recover from a mistake. Less effective ways of dealing with a mistake are: Ignoring it. Explaining it. Becoming defensive. Often, those choices can be awkward. Many times, when recognizing a mistake, laughter is clearly the best choice. Let me give you some examples.

I received an email inquiry for a speaking engagement on the East coast. At the end of my response to the request for information, I added: "I look forward to adding a special touch to your meeting in Deleware!"

The meeting planner replied to my email with two simple words: "It's DelAware."

I had misspelled the name of her state! I had replaced an A with an E.

My note back to her: "Thenks. Lern something every dey."

Her response (the capital letters are hers): "YOU PASS THE TEST! We needed someone with a TRUE sense of humor. Now I'm really excited. I'll be in touch!"

Another example, again in communicating with a potential client, I misspelled a word. This time it was a potential client's first name. Instead of Cecelia I had written to her as Cecilia. Knowing that misspelling someone's name is a tacky mistake, I quickly acknowledged the error before she had a chance to reply. I immediately sent her a second email:

"Oops, misspelled your name Cecelia. Sorry about that. Jhon"

My way of acknowledging that I had unintentionally misspelled her name was to intentionally misspell mine.

Her response was positive: "Funny - you are going to be great for us!"

And here's another embarrassing mistake and a humor recovery. As a newly elected board member of an association, I received an email from the President. "By the way John, did you know you keep calling me Rob when it's Rod?"

Well, as you probably know by now, my style is not to respond with a simple "I'm sorry." Since he had also asked three questions which required my response, I sent him the answers in three separate emails. The last one ended with: "PS: I sent you separate emails so I could practice your name."

His response: "Thank you Jon, for practicing my name." He intentionally misspelled my name! I assumed he did it intentionally because I know that he has a fun sense of humor.

One humorous reply deserves another. A few minutes later I sent him a limerick:

There once was a man named Rod.
For President he got the nod.
He did a great job,
but some called him Rob.
Which struck him as kinda odd.

Rod's response: "Ho ho ho. Very clever. Funny too."

That entire humor exchange helped program Rod's name into my brain. And since that time, I've used his name correctly.

And then there was the time I broadcasted a mistaken email to people in over 60 countries. I was helping a friend publish her first Ezine (electronic newsletter) issue. It appeared that it would be best to do the coaching over the phone. We were both signed onto the internet, and I walked her through the steps on my Ezine server's control panel while she took parallel steps on her control panel. Somehow I made the mistake of loading a blank Ezine into my server and sent it to over 1000 of my subscribers. Oh no! I knew of someone who sent out an Ezine with a glaring error and received over 200 subscription cancellations. I wanted to respond before my subscribers reacted. Humor to the rescue!

In less than an hour after I discovered the mistake, I sent out a special Ezine issue which read:

"What do you do when you receive a blank Ezine?
a. Be happy because you can read it quickly.
b. Believe it is a do-it-yourself Ezine..and write your own.
c. Cancel your subscription.
d. Keep your sense of humor.
"It seems that a random blank issue from the Humor Power Tips computer-in-the-sky was sent to many of our subscribers. If you were half as surprised as I was..then I was twice as surprised as you. Thanks for smiling with me."

And then I introduced a Blank Book Title Contest challenging people to write titles to imaginary blank books.

The response was very positive. The subscription cancellations were no more than they usually were, much less than one percent of my subscription base. Among the several positive comments about how I handled the mistake was one from Mick Court, Melbourne, Australia: "What a great follow up to your blank Ezine. I found your lived example of responding to a technical mistake a really powerful lesson - how to use humor to recover ground after a technical mistake!"

As a bonus, I received more than 350 submissions for the Blank Book Title Contest. Here are ten of my favorites:

It's important to note that none of the fun and creativity of this group writing exercise would have happened without my choice of fixing a mistake with humor.

The lineup for the 32nd annual Playboy Jazz Festival was announced at a Feb. 25 press conference held at Hugh Hefner's Playboy Mansion. Comedian/actor/activist Bill Cosby will once again preside over the event, set to take place at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles June 12-13. Billboard.com quoted the showbiz veteran as saying this about the cherished music festival: "The music may be eclectic, but it's never boring. It's still the best ticket in town." With a lineup featuring headliners the Chick Corea Freedom Band and George Benson and the Manhattan Transfer, Cosby is right!

Acts making their Playboy Jazz Fest debut at the 2010 edition of the festival include vocalist Kurt Elling, Sax For Stax (Gerald Albright, Kirk Whalum and Jeff Lorber), "Trombone Shorty" Andrews and Tiempo Libre, while those returning to the fest include Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Esperanza Spalding, Marcus Miller and Cuban dance orchestra Los Van Van (appearing after a 10-year hiatus!).

President of festival producer FestivalWest Inc. Darlene Chan said at the press conference, "You can't say we do the same old, same old. We're both inside and outside the box." Even Hefner (executive producer of Playboy Jazz Festival) weighed in, adding, "It's a party with the greatest ambiance and sound. Given the downturn in the economy and the music business, this music always brings something to the heart and lifts spirits."

Although Playboy Jazz Festival's master of ceremonies Bill Cosby is now a household name, he was just another standup comedian when he emerged back in the 1960s. The product of a Philadelphia housing project, Cosby quickly became a popular live draw and eventually released a string of live comedy albums. Eight of Cosby's comedy albums went gold and five went platinum, while he also took home five Grammys for his recordings!

After securing success in the standup realm, Cosby decided to conquer television and became the first African American to co-star in a dramatic series when he landed on the television show I Spy. In the 1980s, Cosby was given his own sitcom called The Cosby Show. The iconic sitcom was credited with rescuing NBC from floundering ratings and also highlighted a new era in the family sitcom format. After his eponymous show went off the air, Cosby continued to test his acting chops with film roles (such as in the hit flick Uptown Saturday Night) and also penned a handful of best-sellers (like Fatherhood).

Most recently, Cosby released Bill Cosby Presents the Cosnarati: State of Emergency in October 2009. Billboard.com reported that the album serves as the "aural companion" to Cosby's 2007 book Come on People, which he co-wrote with Dr. Alvin F. Poussaint. Bill Cosby Presents the Cosnarati: State of Emergency doesn't feature Cosby himself, but rather guest rappers and activities like Jace the Ace, Supa Nova Slom and Brother Haz laying down rhymes. Cosby has been performing some tracks off the album live with the Cosnerati Band, however, such as when performed on The Jay Leno Show on Jan. 11.

If you missed Cosby's late-night appearances and aren't a big fan of jazz, you can still enjoy his brand of standup comedy live because he is currently on tour. Grab your Cosby sweater (you know you have one!) and get Bill Cosby tickets from StubHub.com to see him live! Cosby will be stopping in U.S. cities like Fort Myers, FL; Augusta, GA; Brookville, NY; Montclair, NJ; Casper, WY; Charlotte, NC; Glenside, PA; Petoskey, MI; Red Bank, NJ and more through summer!

Only Fools And Horses

Louis Wain 1860-1939 Life Story and Funny Animal Art

Louis William Wain was born in the London district of Clerkenwell in London on 5th. August 1860 and in his early years was interested in music, authorship, chemistry and art. Music was his first career choice but he was not sufficiently dedicated and turned to the world of art as an alternative.

In his early years he was a sickly child and often skipped school. He attended his early schooling at The Orchard Street Foundation school in Hackney and at The Saint Joseph's Academy, Kennington.

Wain was born with a Cleft Lip and the doctor gave his parents the orders that he should not be sent to school or taught until he was ten years old. As a teenage youth, he was often truant from school, and spent much of his childhood wandering around London. Following this period, Louis studied at the West London School of Art and eventually became a teacher for a short period. At the age of 20, Wain was left to support his mother and sisters after his father's death.

With reference to his family, Louis Wain's father had moved to London from Leek in Staffordshire where he met Julie Felice Boiteux (Anglo-French) who attended the same Roman Catholic church. They married in 1859. He had 5 younger sisters (two of whom became competent artists) and his father worked as a textile salesman and his mother designed Church fabrics and carpets.

At the age of 17 he attempted to become a musician though no evidence of any success exists today. Louis Wain then decided to study and trained at The West London School of Art ( 1877- 1882 ) and remained as an assistant teacher until he left in 1882.

After his Father - William Wain's death in 1880 he had to support his mother - Julie Wain and five younger sisters.

To help to support his family he became a freelance illustrator ( initially influenced by Caldecott and May ).

He began to make his name with Dog and Animal drawings at various Dog and Country Shows including the early British National Dog show at Crystal palace in 1882 ( which later became known as Crufts ).

In 1884 Louis Wain married Emily Richardson ( His youngest sister's governess ). Shortly after he married her she contracted Breast cancer. He brought Emily a Kitten which they called Peter and to entertain her he started drawing Peter in humorous situations and poses.

She wanted him to show his cat drawings to some editors to which some comments were - ‘whoever would want to see a picture of a cat.'

The break he had been waiting for came in 1886 when he drew several kitten illustrations for a children's book. After this, Sir William Ingram, Proprietor of the Illustrated London News, commissioned a narrative drawing of a ‘Kitten's Christmas Party'. It contained 200 cats, took 11 days to complete and according to Wain brought him ‘overnight fame.' With the success of his funny cat pictures they started to make his reputation here in Britain and in America where his humorous cat pictures were seen in Comics, newspapers and magazines. These pictures were so successful that his life would never be the same again. Alas, this was tinged with sadness as his wife died shortly afterwards, but knowing that Louis Wain had become a great success.

In the period from 1880's up to the start of the first world war he ruled supreme in cat and animal humour especially the 'Louis Wain Cat' which was recognised worldwide. The Louis Wain cats appeared in Art Prints, Comics, Newspapers, Books, Magazines, Post Cards and Annuals. The Wain cats are to be found in every human activity - from playing golf and other sports, digging up roads, Playing music, Ascot fashions, Driving cats plus lots more.

In 1886 he joined the staff of The Illustrated London News. He was the first illustrator to work consistently within the convention of depicting clothed and standing animals.

He contributed to "Comical Customers at our Fine New Store of Comical Rhymes and Pictures" in 1896 and to "Jingles. Jokes and Funny Folks" in 1898. 1902 saw the word "Catland" commonly associated with Wain's illustrations, and the publication of "Pa Cats, Ma Cats and their Kittens."
His anthropomorphic vision of the world soon brought him fame and as a result he was elected President of the British National Cat Club in 1898 and 1911.

In 1904 Louis Wain wrote a book entitled 'In Animal land with Louis Wain' which was a great success. During 1907 he invested all his savings into various Ceramic's with pictures based on his funny cats and sent most of them to America. Alas, while crossing the Atlantic, the ship capsized and all Louis Wain ceramics went to the bottom of the sea. Due to this misfortune Louis Wain went bankrupt and decided on a temporary move to the United States. He produced strip cartoons for the New York American ( 1907-1910 ) and many other American comics, newspapers and magazines.

After the death of his mother, In 1910, he returned to England and over the next few years he continued to produce books and supply pictures to various comics, newspapers and magazines.

He continued drawing fanciful cats for various newspapers and comics near the end of the first world war. During this time in 1917 he was thinking of experimenting in animation and the film was to be called 'Pussyfoot'. Alas, he decided not to persue this project and so the world lost the chance of a genius of comic cat art moving into animation. This year was a turning point in the history of Louis Wain's cats. His sister Caroline died and he fell off an Omnibus and hit his head.

After he recovered from these set backs his cats became more frenzied, surreal, jagged and pointy. During 1917 he was also diagnosed as a schizophrenic which alas, stayed with him for the rest of his life. During the onset of his disease at 57, Wain continued to Paint, Draw and Sketch cats.

In 1924 due to the economic climate and the slow recovery of GB after WW1 Louis Wain Art became less popular and he fell into poverty when his mental health deteriorated and finally his family had him certified Insane and he was committed to a pauper ward at Springfield Hospital ( Previously Surrey County Asylum ) at Tooting, London on June 16th 1924. During 1925 he was discovered by a visitor to the hospital painting his funny cat pictures. The visitor exclaimed that the artist pictures reminded him of Louis Wain's famous cats. Imagine his surprise when the Artist turned to the visitor and exclaimed he was indeed Louis Wain. After the visitor told the world of Louis Wain's hospitalization, his admirers started a campaign which included prime minister Ramsey Macdonald, HG Wells and King George who helped set up a foundation which was set up to enable Wain to spend the last few years of his life in comfort in private asylums including Bethlehem Hospital in a private room where his treatment continued. H. G. Wells best portrays Louis Wain when he said in a 1925 broadcast, in an attempt to raise money for the impoverished artist, that three generations had been brought up on Louis Wain's cats and few nurseries were without his pictures. He made the cat his own. He invented a cat style, a cat society, a whole cat world. English cats that do not look and live like Louis Wain cats are ashamed of themselves.

Some time in the late 1920's he was sent to Saint James Fields, Southwark where he continued to paint and draw his cats.

In 1930 he was transferred to Napsbury Hospital near Saint Albans where he continued to paint and sketch until the end of his days. Exhibitions of his work were held in London in 1931 and 1937. On 4th. July Louis Wain died at Napsbury hospital. He is buried at Saint Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Harrow Road, London NW10 ( next to Kensal Green Cemetery, London ) next to the same burial plots as his 5 sisters and parents.

He is probably best remembered through a quote from H.G. Wells "He has made the cat his own. He invented a cat style, a cat society, a whole cat world. English cats that do not look and live like Louis Wain cats are ashamed of themselves."

Louis often gave lectures on the welfare of cats and encouraged people to take in stray cats, not just purebred cats. He was elected as President and Chairman of the National Cat Club, which he served for many years, and the logo he designed for the National Cat Club is still used to this very day. He was also involved in many other animal (mainly cat) charities and groups.

With a raspy voice and a glass of scotch and cigar in hand, Ron White first made a name for himself when friend and tourmate Jeff Foxworthy developed the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. After 13 years doing small-time comedy tours, Ron White opened up with the touring redneck group and has now headlined his own series of comedy tours.

Now, millions of dollars later, White continues to sip that scotch, smoke his cigar and tote around as the "fashionable redneck" of Blue Collar Comedy as he currently tours in support of the number one Comedy Central special Behavioral Problems. His new skit will premiere mid-April on Comedy Central, as he amps up audiences with another round of shows beginning early March. If you're one known to affectionately call Mr. White "Tater Salad," you aren't going to want to miss out on these Ron White tickets when they appear at http://www.stubhub.com.

The Fritch, Texas native now thrives in California, where he's learned to adapt to the southern California lifestyle of big living. The proud owner of his own jet, three homes (in Beverly Hills, Atlanta and Montecito) and a puppy, White hasn't put aside his small town ambitions since becoming a star.

"I'm still a hardworking comedian," he said to the Bakersfield press. "I still go to open mic night every night when I'm in town and bang out the beats on my new stuff...so, I'm not resting on my laurels at this point. In fact, I'm really grateful these crowds are still comin' to see me, so I try to keep the show really fresh and funny…six months from now, I just wanna be a better comedian than I am today." The result keeps people laughing, as he jokes about his run-ins with the law or his wife's sexual boundaries. Not one to hold back, his jokes are bound to offend a few, and he likes it that way.

In just his first three years on the mainstream, White earned a whopping $15 million to his name thanks to arena tours and Comedy Central specials. It was after the 2000 debut on the Blue Collar Comedy Tour that helped his 2003 album Drunk in Public skyrocket to multi-platinum success as his feature films and albums in subsequent years found a similar fate. His short-live WB variety show The Ron White Show helped to open White's redneck jokes to a wider audience, as he found himself among Grammy nominees in 2006 for his album You Can't Fix Stupid.

The most recent to appear in 2009's Capitol release Behavioral Problems, a classic White production that features some of his classic tricks as he spins through a manner of topics like his women, alcohol, drugs and his rights. The set charted at No. 13 on Billboard's Country Albums and No. 51 on the Billboard 200 last year. With such success, continued Blue Collar support and a new album out, White continues to lay claim to his success thanks to his mother's "'tater salad."

Tony Award-winning actress Lily Tomlin has remained in the spotlight for her "Evenings with Lily Tomlin" specials, as she travels around the coast yearly. Recently, though, the stage and screen actress has garnered attention for a new kind of work – production. Tomlin and her longtime partner Jane Wagner join a long list of A-list actors to provide funds to on-the-rise plays (either on Broadway or otherwise) to help raise their profits.

Elton John and his partner David Furnish were notorious for investing six figures into the Broadway show Next Fall, a performance he had yet to see, while Will and Jada Pinkett Smith put $3 million into the Broadway show Fela! with their investors. Now, Tomlin and Wagner are investing in the one-man performance written and starring Leslie Jordan called My Trip down the Pink Carpet. If you want to see more than just Tomlin's production sense, check out http://www.stubhub.com/, where Lily Tomlin tickets are available.

Unlike other plays, Jordan is already a mainstream figure – he performed as the Republican homosexual "frenemy" to Karen on NBC's Will and Grace for several years, earning him an Emmy Award for guest star in 2006. The new show, which is based off Jordan's memoir of the same name, premieres mid-April at Midtown Theater. Likewise, Tomlin and Wagner's own professional and personal relationship will get My Trip down the Pink Carpet attention as the two have seen such success together before, when they worked together on Tomlin's one-woman show The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe.

Wagner wasn't just playing the role of producer during the Broadway show, as she also wrote and directed the Tony Award-winning piece, which earned star Tomlin a golden statue in 1986 for Best Actress.

More recently, the actress is perhaps best-known for performing on Broadway in 9 to 5 The Musical (among others) and was also seen opposite Glen Close on the riveting small screen drama Damages. Performing the "lioness" Marilyn in the show and claiming that she is "an avid fan," she couldn't be more excited to tear apart her character's next moves.

"I think any actor would just be on the show because the writing is so good and the actors are so good, and the show is just fun exciting," she said to the Los Angeles Times. "You're excited to go to work and do it."

Originally finding a foundation in Hollywood thanks to her knack for jokes, Tomlin has been in the business for over four decades and has been seen on every sort of medium imaginable – from the silver screen to the small, Broadway's stage to comedy stages and more. And success has come with additional praise, in two Tony Awards, two Peabody's, six Emmys, a Grammy, a Drama Desk, an Outer Critics Circle Award and Mark Twain for American humor. Additionally, the Detroit native has graced the cover of Time, People, American Film and The Advocate. She has done it all and continues to impress even in her 71st year.

Humor Sells: Motivating With Laughter

Only Fools And Horses

What do you do when you're making a presentation or just having a discussion and everything goes wrong, when you fumble or stumble, when you can't find the numbers you need to refer to, when the numbers you do find are wrong?

Try laughter. Try making a joke out of it, using self-deprecating humor. It shows confidence. It shows that you're amazed things went wrong. It makes what could be a problem fun for the people you're dealing with.

Humor sells. In one study of humor in negotiation, "buyers" who made their final offer with a smile and a quip,
"Well, my final offer is x dollars and I'll throw in my pet frog," were able to make the buy at a lower price. Sellers who laughed out loud were even more likely to grant concessions than those who didn't. Imagine if the joke had actually been funny.

You can use humor to get attention, to build rapport, to break down resistance, to make a point more memorable: to get people to listen and to enjoy listening. The old dictum is true: when you're funny you don't have to yell. Always makes sure the humor is appropriate, of course; and always use it with care. Some people will throw up barriers if you get appear to be getting overly friendly too fast.

"If you would rule the world quietly," Emerson said, "you must keep it amused." You can rule the office the same way

In "The Light Touch," humor expert, Malcolm Kushner tells a story of Adelle Roberts, a police officer called to the scene of a domestic disturbance. As she approached the house, a TV came flying out a window. She knocked loudly to be heard over the yelling.

"Who is it?" an angry male voice snarled.

	"TV repairman," Roberts replied.

The man burst into laughter, and opened the door. She probably wouldn't have gotten quite that response if she'd said, "Police."

Humor's effectiveness in diffusing anger and breaking down resistance can be particularly important in today's work environment. In one study, 49 percent of the respondents said they're usually at least a little angry on the job. Forty-nine percent say they are USUALLY angry.

I've known premise salespeople who have been threatened with guns. Some of them deserved it. Though that's carrying sales resistance to an extreme.

Tip: Nobody is going to shoot you while they're laughing.

Tip: Long after people have forgotten what was said, they'll remember how they felt about the person who said it.

Self-deprecating humor is also a great way for executives and managers to put themselves on the same level as their subordinates. It shows they can take a joke, that they too put their pants or their pantyhose on one leg at a time.

When Jack Kennedy wanted to defuse the issue of his family's wealth, he told everyone he'd just gotten a telegram from his father. "Dear Jack," he read, "Don't buy one more vote than necessary. I'll be damned if I'll pay for a landslide."

A new manager was obligated to post a lengthy list of rules right after being promoted to the position: hardly the best rapport builder. He posted the list all right, but he signed it at the bottom, "A. Hitler, Gruppenfuehrer." His superior snatched it off the wall as, "inappropriate." Perhaps. But by then everyone had already seen it.

"We'd read the rules," one worker reports. "We figured the 'Gruppenfuehrer' was going to enforce them. We knew the iron fist was there, and we appreciated that he'd stuck it in a velvet glove and used it to poke a little fun at himself. Otherwise we'd have seen it as a new guy coming in and throwing his weight around."

Another mid-level manager had a grumpy looking doll with a tape recorder inside that he'd programmed to say, "Get your mangy butts back on the job and stop wasting the company's time." The doll would deliver the message whenever the manager decided it was needed. People took the hint, and nobody was offended.

As humor expert Kushner says, "Learn to take your work seriously without taking yourself so seriously. No matter how serious your work or topic, it's always safe to poke fun at yourself."

Pajama party is also called slumber or sleepover party. This is one of the most inexpensive parties to organize and doesn't require much preparation to be organized. Pajama party is a hit amongst two groups:-

1. kids, teens
2. Young adults

In today's era, the theme of slumber party has become a very popular and demanding way to have a get together with old time pals as well. The long lost friends especially school and colleges' ones are called upon and gathered at the home of one of them, who assumes the position of the host for the pajama party. Pajama party is basically like any other simple kind of party which is calls for lots of entertainment, fun, exciting and mind blasting activities and delicious food to munch and crunch. The meaning of this party is very simple and understandable. It is very simple as you can bring in variations to it by arranging the party in your own unique and amazing way. On the other hand if you are deciding to throw a pajama party for yourself or even your kid, you would definitely want to check out the ideas and arrangements.

Adult pajama party:-

The pajama parties are a main highlight in the youth of many young guys and girls. Staying awake up late, chatting with friends and playing games help everyone to develop close friendships and create memories that will last a lifetime. The pajama party is a great way to thank all the friends for being present and participating in the fun with you. There is a difference between a teen pajama party and the adult's pajama party. The teen's party may not be run over night but it's not with the adults. They can run there party as long as they want.

Kid's pajama party:-

Kid's pajama party is the main the very interesting part in the list of pajama parties because of its decoration and venue. The parties for the kids are organized at the home and with lots of friends around and food and good soft drinks. Always keep in mind to have plenty of easy-serve food along with a fun breakfast menu planned for the morning. Keep in records to have an extra supply of combs, brushes and toothbrushes on hand in case any of your young guests forgets to bring them.

pajama party can really make your childhood memories come alive and make your day special.kids pajama party and adult pajama party is the main the very interesting part in the list of parties because of its decoration and venue.
